David J. Herndon, age 61, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital.

He was born the son of Lucille and William Herndon, Sr. on November 7, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa.

David lived at home throughout his youth and remained a lifelong Des Moines resident.

David worked for Link Associates for many many years.

He loved his mother’s home cooking, especially her fried chicken and pork chops.

Some of his hobbies and interests included his love of music, watching action movies, electronics, and his collection of toy helicopters and cars.

David enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics over the years.

He was known for his big smile, always being well dressed and wearing a nice hat or belt.

Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, William Herndon, Jr., Lucia Horning, Lori Herndon, and Leslie Herndon; nieces and nephews, William Quincey, Melissa, Christopher, Timothy, and Zoe; and several great-nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Eric Herndon; and brother, Michael Herndon; and nephew, Chauncey.

Graveside service will be held at a later date Glendale Cemetery.
