Gladys V. (Cottrell) Young, 96, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Port Orange, FL, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at St. Gabriel’s of Murrells Inlet.

She was born April 29, 1924 daughter of the late Clement M. Cottrell and Viola G. Haslam Cottrell.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, Kenneth M. Young and her youngest son, Craig E. Young.

Survivors include her sister, Eunice of Morristown, NJ; two daughters, Carol J. Allison (Don) of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Claire E. of Calgary, Alberta; two sons, Kenneth R. Young of Las Vegas, NV and Clifford J. Young (Diana) of Payson, AZ. Gladys also leaves behind five nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She earned her certificate as an insurance company secretary and went on to work for commercial business offices and public-school systems. She was a member of the Episcopal Church as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. Gladys enjoyed her time as leader in both the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts of America.
