Following an extended illness Kenneth O. Beard passed away Saturday, January 23, surrounded by his
loving family.
He was born November 12, 1932 in Muncie, Indiana to Russell and Mary (Gifford) Beard.
Kenneth was employed at Delco Battery, Muncie, IN for 46 years where he was rarely absent. He was
always grateful to General Motors for giving him a job and he was honor-bound to be there to perform
it. He also served as secretary/treasurer of the Delco Battery Sympathy Club for 41 years.
Kenneth loved the Lord and read his Bible faithfully. A special thrill in his life was going to Israel with his
wife Mary Elizabeth and getting to be baptized in the River Jordan (by a man named John) just like his
Lord Jesus Christ. He was known all his life for his God-given generous heart and for how he loved to
bless others.
He is survived by his children, Susan & Tom McConnell, David & Karen Beard, Liz & John Gibson, Becky &
Bruce Thornburgh, Julie & Chuck Davis, Joe Beard, a step son, Richard Stellwag, a sister, Ruth Drown,
and brother Dan Beard (Carolyn), 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, & 5 great- great-
grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, lifelong friend Larry Ray, and special friends Faith and Scott
Johnson.
Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth Beard, his parents, brothers Russell and
Eugene Beard and sister, Marilyn Stellwag.

Alliance Church, 5601 West Jackson Street, Muncie, Indiana. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dennis
Rush at the church on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm with calling an hour prior to services.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Muncie, under the direction of Parson Mortuary and
Cremation Center, Muncie, Indiana.
