Mr. Murray was born on February 27, 1939, and passed away on October 3, 2017, at the age of 78. He was born in Leesville and served in the Army for two years. After marrying the love of his life, Sherry, they moved often with his work. Mr. Murray held many jobs – lineman, division manager, logger, and even milkman. The real calling for his life was to be a minister, and he served in the Church of Christ for 47 years. Having a true servant’s heart, Mr. Murray devoted much time working in the church as a minister, elder, and song leader. He was a hard worker and raised a large garden each year and loved to share with his family and friends. Spending time with his family was so important to Mr. Murray and brought him much joy. Many memories were made working together or enjoying time at the deer camp.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Alex Leland Murray Sr. and Ona Hattie Murray; sisters, Katherine Gail Murray and Bobbie Holder.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Sherry Murray; sons, Travis Murray Jr. and wife, Diana, of Brady TX and Kevin Murray and wife, Maile, of Boyce, LA; daughters, Jenny Jackson and husband, Lynn, of Leesville, LA, Mandy Conn and husband, Brad, of Leesville, LA and Denise White and fiancée, Vince Gavin, of Leesville, LA; brother, A.L.
