Married Julia Ann Hamilton August 2, 1954 In Hamburg, Ashley, Arkansas

Harvey Linwood "Lin" Ross passed away peacefully January 26th, 2021 in Wichita Falls, TX. He was 88 years old. Lin Ross was born April 4th, 1932 in Little Rock, AR. The family made their home in Crossett, AR. Lin graduated from Crossett High School in 1950 and went to work for the Crossett company. In 1952 he was drafted into the Army and served in Korea. There he learned his first trade as a machinist, making parts for critical aircraft. When he returned to the States, he came home to visit his family and ran into the little sister of his best friend, Julia Hamilton. They married shortly after and following discharge from the Army, brought his family home to Crossett where he again worked for the paper mill, this time as a machinist for Georgia Pacific.
Not content to be the machinist making the parts for someone else's machines, however, he decided he wanted to be the man designing the machines. The family, now enlarged buy 3 daughters, moved to Fayetteville in 1964 for Lin to attend the University of Arkansas. After earning his industrial engineering degree Lin went to work for PPG Industries in Henryetta, OK. PPG was to be his lifelong employer. When the Henryetta plant closed, Lin was transferred to Works 4 in Wichita Falls, making a home in Burkburnett for 17 years. Then eventually to the Lake Charles, LA plant from which he retired in 1997.
Lin was an avid and talented golfer and could be found most weekends on his favorite course. He was proud to have served as a marshal for the PGA Colonial golf tournament in Fort Worth for almost 15 years. He was a dedicated Arkansas Razorbacks fan and followed his Hogs with a zeal he passed along to his three daughters. He and Julia built their dream home in Bella Vista, AR and enjoyed a long and happy retirement, traveling, camping, and visiting family. In 2015 they moved back to Wichita Falls to be near their eldest daughter.
Along with his parents, Lin is preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Yeatman and Peggy Lyon, and a son-in-law, Albert Rodriguez. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Julia Hamilton Ross. Three daughters, Linda Rodriguez Ross of Dallas, Kaye Ross of Okmulgee, OK, and Lora Ross Lawrence of Corvallis, MT. One sister, Judyth Ross of Exeter, NH. Three grandchildren, Mellissa Cash of Okmulgee, OK, Melanie Taylor of Tucson, AZ, and Miranda Rodriguez of DeSoto, TX, along with 5 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
A memorial service and family reunion in his honor will be scheduled for a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Red Cross to which Lin was a lifelong donor and emergency volunteer following the 1979 WF tornado.
