Nora Williams (affectionately known as “Aunt Nora”) the daughter of the late Abraham and Elze (Lowe) Truman was born on June 16, 1922 in Brandon, Mississippi.

She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. After moving to Jackson, Michigan she became a lifelong faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years until her death. She served many years as a head of the kitchen committee, and was a member of the choir and Willie Wilson Missionary Circle.

Nora moved to Michigan in 1940 and began employment with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company until her retirement in 1983. While working at Goodyear she met her husband, George Willie Williams (Rabbit), and they married in 1947. They were married for 53 years until his death in 2000. To this union they had one child, Valeria Paulette (Williams) Moore.

Nora had a large presence and infectious laugh. She was the Matriarch of a large family and her generosity and huge heart reached out beyond the family which gained her the reputation of Aunt Nora to everyone she met. The things that brought her pure joy was spending time with family, serving others, traveling and crafting. If she told you something was ‘Neat’ that was her seal of approval. Her signature saying was “Child…..” while blinking her eyes. Her favorite song was “Oh, How I Love Jesus”. Her presence will definitely be missed.

Nora made her transition to be with God on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter; Valeria P. Moore (Chicago, Illinois), three granddaughters; Qiana Moore, Juanika Moore and Lanai Moore (all of Jackson, Michigan), eight great-grandchildren; Ravi Payne, Kiara Payne, Jayla Moore, Aaliyah Moore, David Johnson II, Kayden Moore, Collin Conant and Laiya Jeffries (all of Jackson, Michigan), and one great-great granddaughter; Nora Payne (Jackson, Michigan), a special nephew; Ludester Truman (Jackson, Michigan) and special niece ; Allah Jean Truman (Battle Creek, Michigan); and sister-in-law Ethel Moss (Jackson, Michigan) and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends
