Benjamin Douglas Lawrence, 53 of Granite Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born August 30, 1965 in Tuscarawas Co. Ohio, he was the son of Benny Lynn and Janet Clary Lawrence. Benjamin was a member of Mountainview Baptist Church. Benjamin was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Lawrence. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 16 years, Joan Kincaid Lawrence of the home; a son, Alex Brent Swanson of New York; a sister, Jessica Herndon and husband Brian of Newton; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Baker of Granite Falls and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Mountain View Baptist Church with Pastor John Compton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held at Blueridge Memorial Park.
