---------------------------------

We are pained to annouce the death of Mr. Elijah Alexander, Sr., of Pickens County, in the ninety-eighth year of his age. The deceased, who was one of our oldest and most highly respected citizens, had lived to see his county achieve its independence, and, through the mutations of time, witness its demoralization, degradation and loss of liberty. Mr. Alexander had been for many years a consistent and useful member of the Baptist church. He leaves a numerous family connection and many friends to mourn their loss.
