Cindy l. Carter, 60 of Kearney passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home.
Cindy was born June 4, 1960 in Kearney, Nebraska to Bruce and Gwendolyn (Kenton) Reiter. She was raised in Gibbon and attended Gibbon High School. In 1985, Cindy moved to Texas where she worked as a bartender and at a dry-cleaning company. On December 17, 1993, she was united in marriage to Jerry Carter in Orange, TX. Cindy and Jerry later moved back to Kearney in 2019 to be closer to her family.
She enjoyed fishing and bowling and she will be remembered for being a very creative and talented person.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry Carter of Kearney; son, Robert Townsend of Gibbon; stepchildren, Anthony, Nicole and husband, Gus, and Candice; grandchildren, Shawn and Alisha; one great grandchild; 10 step grandchildren; mother, Gwendolyn Reiter of Kearney; brother, Rick (Karen) Reiter of Kearney; sister, Debra Brush of Kearney; brothers-in-law, Dave Ohlman of Gibbon and Doug Bowers of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Alice VanDyke of Missouri and Mary Warren of Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
