Freda (Hiser) Lambert passed away on Jan. 30th, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, KS at the age of 77. She was born on Oct. 3, 1943 in Hominy, OK to the late Grady and Bessie (Smith) Hiser. Her family moved to Palco, KS when she was a baby. She married Ted L. Lambert on Feb. 27, 1960 in Plainville. They were blessed with 4 children, Becky, Chris, Mark, and Donna.

In her early years, Freda was a homemaker, raising her own children and opening her home and heart to many other kids near and far. Freda was a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout Den mother, 4-H sewing leader, and FHA chapter mother. Many Palco High Alumni remember her as the Pep Club sponsor and Palco Rooster mascot. Following Friday night ballgames, Freda invited the student body to her house for food and laughter.

Freda enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards, and especially quilting. Her passions were a part of her working days. She worked as the school custodian in Palco and Damar for 12 years, had a catering business serving Rooks county and worked at Kern’s Dry Goods. Her love for quilting and serving the Lord was shared with many people throughout Rooks County. Freda donated many quilts for various fundraisers and church organizations. She was a part of the St. Ann’s Sodality of Damar and taught CCD at St. Ann’s in Zurich.

Freda will always be remembered for her smile and love of dance. She was known around the Palco community for her role as Minnie Pearl in the community melodramas and also as the town clown in parades. Freda was a member of F.C.E and served on the Rooks Co Extension Council, USD 269 school board, and McKenna Advisory Board. One of the many jewels in her crown was being the first elected female mayor of Palco, KS.

All of this paled in comparison to her greatest joy and pride, her family. Freda celebrated over 60 years of marriage to Ted and they loved spending time with their 4 kids and 10 grandkids. Holidays were always very special with activities that included pulling taffy, fondue, Easter egg hunts, and lots of card playing.

Freda is survived by her husband Ted Lambert of the home; daughter Donna (Mike) Raile of Durant, OK; sons Chris (Johnna) Lambert of Palco, KS and Mark Lambert of Arlington, KS; daughter-in-law Karen Lambert; sister Gail (Joe) Botinelly; brother Dale (Wilma) Hiser; 9 grandchildren, Zachary (Bryanna) Allsbury, Lauren (Chris) Skov, Marissa (Kelton) Lambert, Taylor (Maddie) Lambert, Nathan Lambert, Daniel (Nikki) Lambert, Patrick Lambert, Paige (Landon) Lambert, and Maverick Raile; 2 great-grandsons, Brandon & Wyatt Lambert; and a great-granddaughter on the way.

Preceding Freda in death are her daughter, Rebecca Allsbury Nolan; grandson Brandon Nolan; her parents, Grady and Bessie Hiser; her sister Bonnie Hiser Bain; and 2 brothers, Marvin and Roy Hiser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, Kansas starting at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 PM until 8 PM with a Vigil and Rosary starting at 7 PM at the Funeral Home in Plainville.
