According to his obituary his first name was Harvey, (Maybe named after his great-grandfather, Harvey H. Cogsil), and that he was born June 30, 1873 in Lee Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio, and died May 14, 1905 in Pittsburgh,Alleghenny Co., Pennsylvania.

His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, May 19, 1905.

Harvey Cogsil Amos was born June 30, 1873, in Lee Township, Carroll Co., Ohio. He went to Pittsburgh in the spring of 1902 and for the past two years had been in the employ of Adams' express Company, in that city. He died May 14, 1905, in Pittsburgh at the home of his sister, Mrs. Arthur Lannin, of malignant jaundice, after an illness of three days.
He was an exemplary young man, respected by all who knew him. A large number of people attended the funeral service, which was conducted by the Presbyterian minister of Kilgore and the Odd Fellows of Scio, of which lodge he was a member. He leaves to mourn his loss a widowed mother, Mrs. Mary V. Amos, two brothers, Hugh Amos of Kilgore and Jerome at home, and the following sisters; Mrs. Arthur Lannin of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Jessie Arbaugh of Ypsilanti, Mrs. Will Barnhouse of Perrysville and Misses Grace, Blanche and Helen at home.
