Nora Arlene (Opel) Evans, age 88, of Oakland, MD passed away Friday, January 29, 2021, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on June 13, 1932 in Bittinger, MD, she was a daughter to the late John Herman and Melda (Schrock) Opel.

Nora enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading and embroidering. She attended Pine Grove Church of the Brethren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she took great pride in being a homemaker for her family.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 66 years, Wayne Evans; children, Sue Evans of Corinth, WV, Kim Stahl and husband Kevin of Oakland, MD, Bonnie Evans and significant other, Mike of York, PA, Dennis Evans of Grafton, WV, and Kelley Evans of Edgewood, MD; eight sisters, Erma Stephens of Oakland, MD, Thelma Yoder and Eva Miller, both of Accident, MD, Marie Eisentrout of Beaverdam, VA, Jean DeWitt of Oakland, MD, Jody Bender of Kalona, IA, June McCann of Albright, WV, and Hazel Maust of Accident, MD; one brother, Don Opel of Grantsville, MD; three granddaughters, Alisha Stahl of Oakland, MD, Hannah Herd and husband Matt of Wakeman, OH, Malachia Evans of Bridgeport, WV; two grandsons Jacob and Josiah Evans and their mother Chris of Terra Alta, WV; along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Park Opel and two sisters, Bernice Baker and Viola Yommer.

Mrs. Evans’s request for cremation will be honored. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Homes, P.A., Oakland is honored to be serving the Evans family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Southern Rescue Squad.
