Vincent Frank Ward, 48, son of Virgil Frank Ward and Elna Isabelle (Doyle) Graves, died peacefully at his home, with his wife and son at his side on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

He was born on November 20, 1964, in St. Joseph. Frank was a kind, generous man with a quick wit and a great sense of humor.

Frank was a 1983 graduate of Lafayette High School.

He was married to Patricia Ann (Farley) Ward on June 30, 1984, and their union spanned 28 glorious years. Together they raised their son, Adam, who has exceeded their every expectation.

Frank and Pat proudly owned and operated Ward's Printing for 25 years. During those years they met many wonderful people and made several lifelong friends.

Frank was a member of GCC/IBT Union Local NO. 235-M and the St. Joseph Evening Garden Club. He was on the board of Stationery Credit Union for 11 years and board chairman for six years.

Gardening was one of Frank's passions. He was an extraordinary gardener and enjoyed being in God's garden.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; devoted son, Adam Michael (Sara) Ward of Smithville, Missouri; two precious grandsons, Scott Michael and Seth Matthew; his mother, Elna Isabelle (Billie) Graves of St. Joseph; sisters, Brenda (Kem) Hines and Ginger Humphrey, both of St. Joseph, Mary (Terry) Moody of Dothan, Alabama; brother, William Toombs of St. Joseph; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jozie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Frank, and brothers, Robert Doyle Toombs and Kenneth Lewis Ward; paternal grandparents, Frank Joseph and Flora Etta (Robison) Ward of Savannah, Missouri; and maternal grandparents, James Ernest and Clara Gertrude (Stoner) Doyle of Cainsville, Missouri.

Visitation will be after noon on Friday, February 8 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 10 a.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family suggests donations to Second Harvest Food Bank, United Way of Greater St. Joseph, Northwest Missouri Community Services and The Humane Society of St. Joseph.
