Edward Francis Marshall, 73, was born in Detroit to Albert Marshall and Mary Kay Townsend. Ed attended Austin High School and went on to graduate from Ferris State University in environmental health and pest management. He moved to Wisconsin with his wife, Catherine Marshall, where he lived for 26 years raising their twins, Andrew and Theresa. He worked for various companies in research and development for pest control, traveling extensively nationally and internationally to share his expertise. In 2003 he moved to Lansing to be with his high school sweetheart, Anne, whom he married in 2007. Ed retired in 2009 having developed many patents for his companies. In 2012, Anne and Ed moved to Traverse City to enjoy the beauty and golf of northern Michigan and to live closer to his brother, Al. Ed loved science, traveling, the great outdoors, going to the show, volunteering at the film festival, live music, playing guitar, cooking fine meals, telling stories, golf, and scotch. He was a tremendous champion for his children, inspiring them to always try their hardest, instilling a love of nature, coaching soccer teams, and supporting their creative endeavors and adventures, including hiking the Ice Age Trail with Andrew in 2006. To make a long story short, he was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had one brother, Albert, who passed away in 2018.

Ed is survived by his wife, Anne Decker, his two loving children, Andrew (Lynn) Marshall and Theresa (Chris) Morton, as well as two step children Jen (Gary) Witt and Justin (Nicole) Breard. Ed adored his six grandkids (Miles, Julian, Vyla, Cora, Maxwell, and Kaya) and will be greatly missed by his family and very dear friends. For now, he is resting with the lord and there will be a memorial in his honor at a later date.
