Funeral services for Atlee Neal "Jack" Brooks, 86, of Sparta, who passed away Sept. 24, 1999, were held Sept. 26 from the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Bros. Phillip Bradley, Eugene Weakley, Glenn Creasey and Wayne Hall officiated.
He was born Oct. 25, 1912 in Rowland Station, TN, the son of Robert and Fannie Mae Stephens Brooks. Bro. Brooks was a retired minister of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma Jean and Bill Scott of Crossville, Geraldine and Kenneth McCormick of Sparta, and Glinda Faye and Bill Griffith of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Vera Mae Brown of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdelene Blaylock Brooks.
