Robert Paul Weston
October 22, 1943 ~ January 23, 2021 (age 77)

Robert (Bob) Paul Weston of Petoskey and formerly of Alanson passed away on January 23, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital due to complications from COVID-19. Bob was born on October 22, 1943 in Pontiac Michigan to Virgil and Doris (Willhite) Weston. Upon graduation from Avondale High School in 1961, Bob enlisted in the US Navy as a medic. Upon completion of his tour in the Navy, Bob re-enlisted in the military this time with the Airforce. As a medic in the military, Bob provided medical care to injured soldiers during the Vietnam War. On August 1st, 1964 Bob married the beautiful Roslyn (Roz) Benners of Scottsdale Arizona. Together, Bob and Roz raised two sons Robert (Rob) and R. Scott Weston. Bob's 16 year military career took him and his family across American where they eventually settled in Rio Linda, California. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Airforce, Bob's new career put him behind the wheel of a Semi Truck. Bob again traveled around America and eventually owned his own trucking business. In 1979, Bob read about audition recruitment in the back of a trucking magazine looking for "special BIG RIG" he submitted an application and a picture of his truck and was chosen to drive his truck in the movie Smoky and the Bandit 2, starring Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields. In 1983 Bob and Roz relocated to Alanson Michigan where Roz took a nursing job at Northern Michigan Hospital and Bob took advantage of his GI bill and returned to college and started a small hobby farm. In 2004 Bob's wife Roz lost her battle with cancer and was called home. On December 18, 2004 Bob married Christy Ann Washburn also of Alanson. Together Bob and Christy made their home in Alanson where Bob continued to enjoy his small hobby farm. In Bob's spare time he enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, fishing, hunting and attending/volunteering at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene and was a familiar face in the sound booth and picking up and serving food at the food pantry every Wednesday night.

Bob is survived by his wife Christy, his sons Robert (Rob) and Dawn Weston (Alanson MI.), R. Scott and Stacey Weston (Alanson MI), and stepsons Daniel (Jessica) Miller (Onaway MI), and Aaron (Angie) Miller (Sterling Alaska), grandchildren Cassie, Britney, Shannah, Jessica, Tylor, Ayanna, Christopher, Dakota, Alexandra, Trey, Adeline, Sarah, Abigail and Connor and 8 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his siblings Terry (Joann) Weston, Linda (Victor) Huddus and Keith (Pat) Weston and his constant companion Rosie, their rescue Corgi/Terrier mix from Texas.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Roslyn and his Granddaughter Ericka Noelle Weston.

A memorial gathering will be held beginning at 11:30 AM Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Scott and Stacey's home, 8687 Littlefield Lane in Alanson. Interment will follow at Littlefield Cemetery.
