Brenda Joyce Jackson Ferguson, 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at High Point Medical Center. She was born on January 27, 1945 in Bennettsville, Marlboro County, SC to Clarence Artemus Jackson and Bessie Mae Freeman Jackson, both of whom preceded her in death. She retired after 29 years as a teacher’s assistant with Kern Street School and Thomasville Primary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was the first female deacon and was previously an Acteens and youth leader. She volunteered at the He Cares Ministry.

On August 22, 1965, she married Richard Kemp Ferguson, who survives of the home; also surviving are her children, Richard Ferguson and wife Sharon of Marietta, GA, Jennifer Everhart and husband Rodney of Lexington, NC, and Chad Ferguson and wife Lindsay of Raleigh, NC; sister, Gayle Barger of Garner, NC; grandchildren, Preston Ferguson, Lilly Ferguson, Haven Everhart and wife Samantha, Bradley Everhart, Corey Everhart and wife Hayley, Andrew Everhart and wife Logan, Jenna Everhart, Brendan Jett Everhart, Taylor Ferguson, and Olivia Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Eli, Josh, Riley, Caleb, and Amelia Everhart; nephew, Beau Barger; and niece, Brenna Barger.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Bryant and Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
