Thomas Wayne West, 80 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Mercy Regional Health Care Center, following a full and meaningful life.Thomas was born April 28, 1940, in Knox County, KY and raised there till 14 years of age. Thomas was a resident of Lorain for the past 27 years. Thomas was employed at Polansky Meat Market as a butcher for 52 years. Thomas was a faithful member at North Lake Missionary Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors, spending time working and relaxing with his family. Fishing and gardening were some of his favorite pastimes. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty (nee: Hammond); his sons Lonnie W. West of Lorain, Donnie L. (Tracey) West of Elyria, Jonnie D. West of Lorain; his daughters Connie J. (James) Denney of Eubank, KY, and Bonnie J. (Cricket) Campbell of Science Hill, KY; brother Clarence West of Norwalk; sisters Louella Wyckoff of Henrietta Township and Betty Sue Jones (Bobbie) of Elyria; thirteen grandchildren;fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother William;his great grandson Hunter Denney Wesley; his sisters Thelma Grubb and Juanita McGarvey; and his parents Alonzo and Flora West (nee: Cox).Public visitation for family and friends will be held at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in the afternoon and evening by reservation at https://signup.com/go/KCULTeC or by phoning the funeral home at 440-988-4451 during business hours of 9-5.
