Graveside service for Mr. Larry Felton Patterson, 74, of Hokes Bluff, Al., will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday January 29, 2021 at Young’s Chapel Cemetery with Brother Roger Butler officiating the service. Glencoe Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge of services. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Patterson passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William (Bernice) Patterson Sr., his in-laws, Jackson Caswell and Virginia (Dyke) Peek; siblings: Agatha (Ralph) Fallon Sr., Elizabeth (Claude) Bannister, Mavice (Spencer) Williams Sr., Dorothy (Bobby) Martin, Rosie Dean Patterson, and William James Patterson Jr.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 52 years Diane (Peek) Patterson; children: Lynn (Chris) Holcomb, Beverly (Stephen) Bankston, Joe (Becky) Patterson, and Karen (Mason) Cothran; grandchildren: Wesley Brittain, Jesse (Kaylynn) Brittain, Chloe Brittain, Rebekah Bankston, Cole Cothran, Conner Cothran, and Carter Cothran; great grandson: Alexander James Brittain; sister, Ressie Faye Patterson; brothers and sisters-in law: Margaret Patterson, Peggy (Danny) Walker, Michael (Ruth) Peek, Sandra (David) Gurley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Patterson was born to William and Bernice (Gidley) Patterson, Sr. on March 15, 1946. He was the youngest of 8 children. He was a 1964 graduate of Hokes Bluff High School and attended college at Gadsden State, Jacksonville State and Auburn Universities. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a Farmer/Cattleman. He devoted his entire life to working the land, to honoring and loving his family, to telling others about God and to making children laugh. He would give a stranger the shirt off of his back and the last dollar out of his wallet if that stranger was in need. He was an honest, sincere, man and he will be missed terribly.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Brittain, Cole Cothran, Conner Cothran, Jimmy Patterson, Levi Butler, and David Hammonds.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jesse Brittain, (currently deployed with the US Army), Carter Cothran, Spencer Williams Jr., Tim Bannister, Ralph Fallon Jr., James Fallon, John Fallon, Jamey Walker, Alan and Brian Peek.
