Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Kathyrn Washburn Pace, 80, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2021 in the care of her children and the loving staff at Elk Meadows Assisted Living in Oakley, Utah. Kathy was born on June 23, 1940 to Wallace & Mavis Washburn, of Monroe, Utah. Kathy is survived by her sister, Anna (Don) Mason; honorary sister Sue (Nick) Gonzales; her children, Becky (Ken) Nesheim, Jerrilyn Davis, Cindy Davis, Rodney (Debbie) Pace, and Sherrie Pace; and 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as her favorite nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl A Pace, Jr., her infant son Dale, a brother, sister, a granddaughter, and parents.

Kathy was raised in Monroe, Utah until the age of 16 when her family moved to Pleasant Grove. Kathy graduated from Pleasant Grove High in 1958. In 1960 Kathy married Jerry Davis and together they had 2 children, Jerrilyn and Dale. Kathy later married her second husband Carl Pace on January 9, 1970, becoming an instant mom to Becky, Cindy, and Rod. Sherrie was born on August 4, 1971 and completed the family. Kathy and her family made their home in Pleasant Grove until her health began to fail several years ago.

Kathy was a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served in a variety of callings. Along with being an excellent homemaker, cook, and baker, Kathy worked outside the home at Ben Franklin’s Store, Bailey’s Sewing, Signetics in Orem, and during her retirement she enjoyed her time working at Wal-Mart (I think just because she LOVED shopping there!) Kathy’s most important role and her favorite one (until the grandkids came along anyway), was that as mom to all her children, their friends, and any child she came upon. It’s no secret she loved babies and kids. She dearly loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kathy kept her family as the center of her world. The family spent many summer vacations camping and travelling with the RV. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, camping, travelling, and her beloved Diet Coke. It’s no secret that Kathy was the most generous person you could ever have the privilege of knowing. Nothing brought her more joy than buying and giving gifts to those dear to her. During her retirement with Carl, Kathy enjoyed her time and membership with her Deer Sam’s Club. She made many wonderful friends that she missed and recounted the campouts and events often.

Her friends and family will always have fond memories of her sense of humor and her practical jokes, the way she kissed the bottoms of every one of her grandchildren, how easily startled she was (don’t pop a balloon near her), her love of Christmas and decorating for all holidays, her sparkly shoes, her love of Diet Coke with lots of ice, and the way she was a “pusher” of sugar, as you could never visit without the offer of a dozen different sweets. Most of all her family will remember her for the wonderful loving generous faithful and sweet lady she will always be in our hearts.

Due to Covid 19 concerns private family services will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at OIpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
