Mr. Felix W. Kimich, 89, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, January 26th, at CHI St. Joseph The Med in College Station. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, January 29th, beginning at 5:00 pm at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. A parish rosary will follow at 6:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 30th at 11:00 am at the church with Monsignor Adam McClosky serving as the celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Felix was born on May 22, 1931 in Anderson to Walter & Agnes (Demny) Kimich. Felix was one of 12 kids. Growing up, he worked on the family farm. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a tank driver in the Korean War from 1952-1954, along with his twin brother, Alex. After returning from service, he married Rose Ann Sechelski on September 29, 1956. They then moved to Houston where he worked for Oil Center Tool, later acquired by FMC, for 31 years. They returned to Grimes County to live and started a dairy farm in 1969, as he continued to travel back and forth to Houston to work at FMC. After retirement from FMC and the dairy in 1991, he became a full time Popo.
Felix could oftentimes be found at the domino table, socializing at any church event, driving his mower to check the chickens, or taking a ride on the buggy to feed and count his cows. He was a proud member of the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and a devout member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids to the fullest and was so proud of all of their accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rose Ann Kimich; grandson Patrick Busa; brothers Albert Kimich, Luke Kimich, David Kimich, Alex Kimich and Arch Kimich; and sisters Theresa Cook, Barbara Morgan and Martha Kimich; brother-in-law Ralph Cook and sisters-in-law Helen Kimich and Merle Kimich.
Felix is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Debby Kimich of Anderson; daughters and sons-in-law Geralyn and LaVearne Backhus of Anderson and Cynthia and Paul Coronado of Anderson; brother Tommy Kowis and wife Frances of Plantersville; sisters, Annie Cooper of Pasadena and Katherine Kasowski and husband Frank of Tomball; sisters-in-law Carolyn Kimich and Ruby Kimich, both of Anderson; grandchildren Stephen, Michael, and Brian Kimich, Stephanie Burzynski, Ashley Andruss, Jason and Kevin Busa and Shellie, Bridget, Brandon, and Kelsey Coronado; great-grandchildren Makayla, Zoey, Lakelynn, Colton, Wyatt, Kylee, and Kaylee Kimich, Haylee and Hagan Burzynski, Olivia Andruss, Kirstie, Valerie, Audrie, and Chase Busa, Jordan Coronado, and Presley and Ricardo Quezada and close family friend, Leon Coke. He was also excitedly awaiting the arrival of great grandson, Easton Felix Coronado.
