Charles Gordon Vaughn
Charles passed away January 6, 2021 in Hanford, CA due to heart and health complications inflicted by COVID-19. He was 85 years old. Born June 17, 1935 in Fresno CA to the late, Charles and Evelyn Vaugh, from Riverdale, CA. Charles was the youngest of three children. With two older sisters, Laverne and Edna, He was "Mothered Well" and raised with manners and a spoonful of mischievousness. In Riverdale, he resided his entire childhood, Graduated from Riverdale Joint Union High School and furthered his education at Fresno State University: In which he remained a loyal and proud, Fresno State Bulldog. Hopefully Heaven has a big screen TV because he won't missed a game!
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged. Following the Navy he soon met the love of his life, Elouise, in San Diego, CA. (Funny, what beautiful love you can find when pretending to need cigarettes from a machine - back when there was such a thing). Happily, the two were married in March of 1961, and shared an extraordinary life filled with love, friendship and one another for nearly 60 years. Elouise was certainly his true love.
Charles and Elouise lived in Riverdale CA. for a brief while after marriage, then soon moved to Coalinga, CA. where hw found what would become his lift passion, professionally, working for the California Department of Forestry. For more than 32 years, "Charlie" to his fraternity of brotherhood, worked for the California Department of Forestry as Fire Captain (Now Cal-Fire) until his retirement. Charlie considered his Forestry Family, "Family for Life" in which they were, and still are.
Charles and Elouise had two daughters. Elizabeth and Valerie. Charles fondly chose to reside in Coalinga, raising their daughters in a town they forever called "home".
Camping, Fishing and Woodworking were only but a few hobbies Charles kept. In his daughters younger years, coaching their softball teams, leading 4-H clubs, and supporting their life passions, became passions of his as well. Always a hard working honest man, Charles believed in kindness and fairness, being genuine and real. You give more than what you take , and always get what you put in. And Most importantly, believe in your Faith, Love your family and respect thy neighbor. And let's not forget, treat his daughters like the Princesses he believed they were. (Until he had Granddaughters, then all rules changed)
Charles is survived be his forever love and wife, Elouise Vaughn: Two loving daughters:
Elizabeth (Kevin) and Valerie (Russ); Five beloved Grandchildren: Westly, (Courtney), Beighley, Christopher, Lilianna and Hannah., and his three Great-Grandchildren: Jazmine, Ella and Lukas.
