Manitowoc - Charles R. "Chuck" Rabenhorst, age 72, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 16, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center of Two Rivers.
Chuck was born on April 11, 1948 in Manitowoc, son of the late Robert and Bernice (Jansen) Rabenhorst. He was a Manitowoc Lincoln High School graduate with the class of 1966. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1974 as an electronics mechanic, specializing in and repairing radar. While in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Fresno. He also earned a degree from LTC in graphic arts. Chuck was employed with Manitowoc Cranes as a layout fabricator/pattern builder and then later worked for Natural Ovens. On April 17, 2004 he married Kathleen (Kitzerow) Tome at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Chuck had a strong faith and attended the Men's Bible Classes at Redeemer for many years. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 731 of Manitowoc. Chuck enjoyed photography, gaming, family bonfires, playing games with his grandkids and attending their sporting events.
Survivors include his wife: Kathleen Rabenhorst; two step-children: Todd (Joyce) Tome, Wendy (Mark) Cayemberg; four step-grandchildren: Taya, Cole, Tanner and Brenna; one aunt: Rita Jansen; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Karen (Mike) Kinzel, Mary Jane Kitzerow, Marianne (Alan) Ketelhohn; and good friends: Tom, Rachel, Simeon, Anna and Moses Newton. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one sister: Nancy Rabenhorst; and one brother-in-law: James Kitzerow.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and funeral services will be held in spring of 2021.
Memorials may be made in Chuck's name to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
