Rev. George Lee Coleman Sr. , 79, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at his home.
Rev. George Lee Coleman Sr., was born March 7, 1941 in Fayette, MO, the son of Lawrence Thomas Coleman and Elizabeth Broadus.
Rev. Coleman was a long time minister of the Gospel Pastoring Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, as well as churches in Auxvasse, MO, Wellsville, MO, Sugar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and Morgan Street Baptist Church.
He was chairman of Religious Affairs for the NAACP, President of the Congress of the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church Association, and President of the Mt. Carmel Ministerial Alliance.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Bobbie Coleman of the home, four sons George Coleman Jr. of Columbia, MO, Rev. Gordon Coleman (Terry) of Jefferson City, MO, Gary Coleman of Columbia, MO, and Jordan Coleman of Hawaii, two daughters Ginger Robinson (Benjamin) of Arizona, and Gina Edwards (Terry) of Columbia, MO, one step-son Michael Cox (Cathy) of Columbia, MO, four brothers Jim Broadus (Winona) and Keith Broadus (Brenda) both of Columbia, MO, Danny Broadus (Pat) of Sugar Hill, GA. and Charles Broadus of Fayette, MO, two sisters Mari Hinkle of Stockton, CA and Bennie Broadus of Fayette, MO, a special friend Vicky Titus, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Greg Coleman, his first wife Berniece Williams Coleman, two brothers John Harold Broadus and Thomas Edward Coleman and two step-sons Dwayne Cox and Eric Criss.
A visitation will be held on Friday July 17, 2020 from 5-7 PM at Second Baptist Church in Columbia.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Faith Family Church in Fayette, Missouri with a visitation from 10-11 AM at the church.
