Ingrid W. "Winki" Adams
Ingrid W. Adams, known to family and close friends as Winki, passed away on Jan. 24, with her son at her side. She had been living in Pueblo, Colo., for the past ten years, but grew up in Creve Coeur. Winki was born on May 12, 1950 in Sendai, Japan, where her dad was stationed during the Korean War. She lived in France for two years, due to another posting, then with her grandparents in Creve Coeur, after her parent's marriage dissolved. She was a 1968 graduate of Parkway Central. After high school, she went to Panama for a few years to live with our dad. It was there she met a fellow who gave her a beloved son, Scott Andrew Adams. Winki's lifelong dream was to be a nurse. She worked in insurance for many years, then pursued her dream, earning her RN. She was employed at St. John Mercy Hospital until forced into early retirement after a bad fall. She spent her free time reading. She enjoyed travel and never met a restaurant she didn't like. She attended a nieces wedding in California in 2019 and hoped to move there permanently, but the corona virus delayed that plan. Her death was ultimately the result of becoming ill and exhausted from her forced lifestyle and required medications. Winki was preceded in death by her parents, Ingrid Monroe Adams and Donald Lee Adams; and by her half-sister, Sabine Adams; and former brother-in-law, Henry Brown. She leaves behind her son, Scott (Aubree); and two grandsons, Thomas and James; three full siblings, Christine (Michael) Cain of Sedona, Ariz., Marti (Gerry) Hardisty of Vallejo, Calif., David (Angelika) Adams of Rauenberg, Germany; and half-brother, Alban (Tracey) Adams of Pawcatuck, Conn.; her nephews and nieces, Keith (Heather) Brown and their daughters Erin and Riley of Middletown, Pa., Ryan Brown of Phoenix, Ariz., Samantha (Dwayne) Soriano and their sons Beckett and Asher of Benicia, Calif., Rachel Hardisty of Venice, Calif., Greta Adams of Rauenberg, Germany, and Kyle, Michelle and Aidan Adams of Conn. She also leaves close cousins, the Paulding's, originally of Ballwin, Mo., and the Monroe's of Ellisville, Mo.; and friends, the Nicely's, now of Kirkwood, Mo. The family would like to thank Hospice and her caregivers at University Park Health Care Center in Pueblo, Colo.; daughter-in-law Aubree Adams and Aubree's parents Sharon and Alan Sibole, for their selfless help and support. Sadly, there will be no visiting hours or service. Covid prevents travel for Winki's scattered family. Memorial donations can be made to your local Alzheimer's Association, in memory of our mother, grandmother and aunt, who all died of the condition. "…because I knew you, I have been changed for good."
