Knoxville - Thomas Eugene Boyd, 88, of Knoxville, TN, a loving husband and father who was committed to his faith and family, transitioned to heaven on January 22, 2021. Thomas "Tom" was loved and admired by many and known for his optimistic approach in life impacting many.

Tom was born July 8,1932 in Nashville, TN to Eugene and Johnnie Katherine Boyd, and later moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Shehan Boyd.

He pursued and excelled in a sales career working for Millers Department Store selling toys then transitioned to his primary career path selling cameras and equipment. He was recruited to work for Vivitar for most of his career and finished out his career working for Thompson Photo in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He had a love for photography capturing family, landscapes, and special moments.

His greatest accomplishments were using his gifts and talents in the church. Throughout the years, he served in a leadership capacity as a deacon, Sunday school director, teacher, and videographer. After retiring from his sales career, he continued to serve as church custodian. For over 40 years, he and his wife faithfully supported and attended Valley Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Boyd, and siblings, John Boyd and Patsy Cooper.

He is survived by his children Dennis (Janet) Boyd of Knoxville, TN, Katherine (Stanley) Hill of Knoxville, TN, Karen (Todd) Meredith of Huntsville, AL.; grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Boyd, Chris (Melissa) Hill, Andrew (Khaley) Boyd, Bradley Hill (Natalie Blocher), Rebekah Hill, Zachary (Mikaila) Meredith, and Weston Meredith; seven great-grandchildren; brother Kenneth (Cara) Boyd and sister Peggy Adams; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and devoted friends. A special thank you to the caregivers at the Norris Health and Rehabilitation Center over the past year.

Open Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, January 26th from 10:00am-6:00pm at Berry Highland South Funeral Home, 9010 E. Simpson Rd, Knoxville. The Funeral Service is Wednesday, January 27th at 11:00am at Berry Highland South with Pastor Keith Vaughn officiating. The Service will be public, but please observe all social distancing and masking protocols for everyone's safety. It will be livestreamed on Berry Highland South's facebook page.
