Tammy Doreen Thomas, 52, passed away December 17th, 2020. Formerly of Lockport, New York, she moved to Alabama, where she earned her paramedic license from the University of Alabama. She worked for Suburban Ambulance, CareLine, and AMR in many roles, including paramedic, field training officer, field operations supervisor, and dispatcher. She went on to become an RN, and worked for UAB Hospital in the Trauma/Burn ICU for many years. She also taught part-time in the Paramedicine Program at Jeff State Community College. Tammy's natural gift as a health care worker was evident as early as high school. While working in a nursing home, she would visit with residents outside of her shifts, and even had been known to bring residents home for the holidays if they did not have family close by. Tammy shined as a paramedic with her ability to remain calm and calm others in emergency situations. Within her family, she was the source of strength when loved ones were ill and needed care. She is survived by her parents, James and Doris Thomas, brother Richard, and sister Barbara. She will be genuinely missed as a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, friend, and by her brothers and sisters in EMS.
