FITCHBURG -- Lawrence N. Reed, 90, of 292 Fifth Mass Turnpike, died at his home after an illness. He was the husband of the late Katherine M. (Beninati) Reed who died September 24, 2002, they were married 64 years. He leaves one son, Lawrence N. Reed Jr. and his wife Jane of Fitchburg; two daughters, Mary J. Schrader and her husband Dennis of Gardner, and Sandra Gosselin and her husband Mike of Phillipston; 11grandchildren, Dawn Cortney of Alabama, Lori Wallace of Ashburnham, Todd Reed of Fitzwilliams, N.H., Eric Reed and Chris Reed both of Fitchburg, Kim Campobasso of Phillipston, Jeff Gosselin of Templeton, Christine Lombardo of Ashburnham, Doug Schrader of Utah, Marc Schrader of Worcester, and Kelly Beaton of Gardner; 20 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law Janet Reed of Athol; one sister Rowena Bourgeois, and many nieces and nephews. Larry is also predeceased by his son, Leslie Joseph Reed; a grandson, Michael Reed; two brothers, Earl Reed, and Charles Reed and a sister Doris Miller. He was born in Westminster, on November 21, 1917 a son of the late Leslie and Faye (Hurd) Reed. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. Larry worked as a Mill Supervisor for the former Crocker Burbank Paper Co., the former Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. and the James River Paper Co. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Leominster Sportsman's Club, the Gun Owners Action League (GOAL), and he served in the US Navy during World War II as a Seaman Second Class. Larry was a kind and loving father and grandfather. The family enjoyed many great get-togethers around his pool. He was great at sharing his knowledge of many things with his loved ones, especially his love of the outdoors. He was a lifelong fan of the RED SOX. He also enjoyed the Patriots. Larry spent his favorite times hunting with his late wife Katherine, his late son Leslie, his son Lawrence Jr., and his grandsons Todd and Mickie Reed. Larry's other great love was fishing. He spent his favorite moments with his wife Katherine, his sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons in his boat fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee and Quabbin. A Private Funeral Service will be held in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, (www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net), 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473. Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery, 9 Narrows Road, Westminster, MA 01473 There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Reed's name to the Diversified VNA, 25 Tucker Drive, Leominster, MA 01453.
