Jerry Beck, 69, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at home, peacefully and surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 14th, 1951 in Ainsworth, NE to Harold and Gertrude (Hickman) Beck. He grew up in Ainsworth, NE and graduated from Ainsworth High School in May of 1969.

Jerry was united in marriage to Joyce (Bauer) Beck on May 19th, 1995 in Grand Island, NE. Afterward, the couple lived in multiple locations over the next twenty-five years. They started in Grand Island, then Central City, Genoa, and Hebron, NE. In 2013, they moved to Leadville and then Montrose, CO, following Joyce’s Healthcare Administration Career, before returning to Grand Island in 2017.

Jerry took over Beck’s Well, Co. from his father, Harold Beck, which Harold founded in 1950. Jerry operated Beck’s Well, Co. in Ainsworth, NE from 1969 until his battle with Multiple Sclerosis forced his retirement from the water well drilling industry in 1995. Jerry worked several jobs after moving away from Ainsworth, finally retiring due to his struggles with MS in 2006. He spent the next fifteen years focusing on loving his wife and family.

Jerry’s favorite pastimes were flying airplanes and maintaining show cars. He loved spending an afternoon flying through the clouds over the Nebraska plains. You could often find Jerry sitting under a shade tree at a car show, or cruising town in his Corvette with Joyce. He loved chasing mule deer across the Sandhills every fall with his family and friends.

Jerry was a member of the Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years, and the Ainsworth Elks Club #1790. He was a past president of the Nebraska Well Drillers Association. He was very proud of his work helping with the creation of the Nebraska Water Well Standards and Licensing Program.

Jerry is survived by his wife Joyce of Grand Island, NE, son Tonny (Michelle) Beck, grandsons Holldyn and Jacce (fiancée Britley) of Ainsworth, NE, son Jeremey (Kristin) Beck, grandson Finnegan and granddaughter Lillian of Bellingham, WA, stepson Kenny (Heather) Bauer, granddaughter Haleigh of Lincoln, NE, stepson Bryce (Emily) Bauer, grandsons Mason and Miles and granddaughter Molly of Ord, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gertrude Beck, and his infant brother.
