January 10, 1949 - December 13, 2020
Gary Grant Stevens was born on January 10, 1949 in Beckley, WV to Grant and Alice (Hodge) Stevens. At an early age his family moved to Detroit, Michigan. He attended and graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1967. All his life, he was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Red Wings Hockey teams.
In the mid-80s he moved to Florida where he enjoyed fishing with his dad. In 1998 he met his wife Catherine and the two were soon married.
In addition to his wife Catherine, he is survived by two daughters: Theresa (Gerald) Watkins and Jessica Cory, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, sister Shelby Putansu (Ray), brother Don Hodge, brother Ronald Hodge (Barbara), sister Dorothy Sabo, Julia Chandler, the mother of his children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Since a traumatic brain injury in 2001, Gary enjoyed playing bingo at the local senior center and watching hockey and baseball (Detroit, of course). He and brother-in-law Ray enjoyed eating tacos and drinking Pepsi after getting their monthly haircuts.
Gary was a gentle, kind man and a loyal, loving and forgiving husband. He will be greatly missed, but we will see him on the other side.
A private family funeral service is being held at Berean Baptist Church on Thursday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m.
