Joyce Elaine Cooke Evans, 74, of Hertford, NC died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Vidant Chowan Hospital. She was born August 23, 1946 in Forsyth County, NC to the late William Paul Cooke and Mary Alice Spencer Cooke and was the widow of James Howard Evans. She was a personal care aide for Albemarle Home Care and a member of Olivet Lakes Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Alisha Purcella (Roger) of Hertford, NC and Jamie Denise Cox of Ashville, NC; two sons, Russell Evans (Suzanne) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and James Howard Evans, II of Newport News, VA; four sisters, Lucille Daughtery, Paula Dail, Vickie Rae Wellsnite, and Maxine Wall; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Allen Harmon officiating at the Hertford Pentecostal Church
