Don Allen, 73, of Kinta, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Haskell County Hospital. He was born January 31, 1947 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Raymond & Barbara (Quick) Allen. His family moved from Jay area to Gaines Creek in 1954 and then to Blocker where he grew up. Don graduated from Crowder High School. He got his Associates from Murray State and his Bachelors from the Panhandle State in Animal Science. Don married Linda House on March 20, 1967. They moved to the Whitefield area and then to Kinta in 1979 where they raised their family and lived until their deaths. His whole life was about ranching. He worked at Stigler Livestock Auction for over 50 years, mostly as the “weigh man.” He loved the sale barn and seeing all the people. He loved big family get-togethers so he could pick on everyone. He absolutely loved his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. He made it a priority to see them as often as he could.
Don is survived by his second wife, Carolyn Allen of the home; his daughter & son-in-law, Tracey & Matt Workman of Quinton; his son & daughter-in-law, James & Debbie Allen of Kinta; his grandchildren & spouses, Cody & Sarah Allen of Kinta, Lori & Kaleb Boren of Kinta, Kyle Alby & fiance’ Olivia of Kinta, Cara & Justin Lowder of Wilburton, Erin & Devin Taylor of Quinton, & Hayden Workman of Quinton; great grandchildren, Emerson, Jack, & Addison Lowder, Dean Taylor, Heidi & Audrie Boren, Jolie Allen; stepchildren, Twana & Ronnie Brown, Herchel Box, Zane & Kelly Box; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; his sister & brother-in-law, Paula & Glen Ogden of Quinton; 5 brothers & 4 sisters-in-law, Larry & Carolyn Allen of Indiana, Darrell & Dora Allen of Oktaha, OK., Kent & Dee Allen of Blocker, OK., Terry & Sheila Allen of Blocker, OK., Duane Allen of Jones Creek Rd,; numerous nieces & nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Barbara Allen; first wife, Linda Allen; sister-in-law, Terri Allen; nephews, Paul & Lee Ogden; great nieces, Emma & McKemen Ogden; step daughter-in-law, Roxie Box; best friend, Johnny Sweeden.
Don worked for the Kinta Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. He was a member of Lequire Church of Christ.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Stigler Church of Christ with Mr. Virgil Cantrell officiating. Pallbearers include his grandsons, Cody Allen, Kyle Allen, Kaleb Boren, Justin Lowder, Devin Taylor, Hayden Workman. Honorary Pallbearers include Ronnie Quick, Alan Quick, Jerry Terrell, Ross Wilson, Andrew Morris, Ronnie Brown, Joe Sosa, Todd Tucker, Johnny Rosso, Logan Satterfield, Chris Johnson, Jim Harrell.
Burial will follow in Whitefield Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
