Donna Vee Galloway McCall Hamilton of Brevard passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Monday, January 25, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born January 23, 1937 to Marie Galloway and Culwell Galloway.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Albert Meece, as well as her loving husbands, Donald McCall, and M. L. (Buddy) Hamilton; her sisters, Louise Cody, Dorothy King and Helen Fowler; her brothers, Nealis, Floyd, Lester, Lewis, Clinton (Speedy), Doyle and Boyd Galloway; stepsisters, Mary Jane Meece and stepdaughter Barbara Ann Hamilton; and stepbrothers, A. J., and Jerry Meece.
She is survived by one son; two grandsons and one half-brother; three great grandchildren; two stepdaughters; one stepson; four step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; one sister; one brother; a number of nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Betty Fisher, who called her every night for the past seven years.
She graduated from Rosman High School. She worked at Ruth Originals and then the Ecusta Plant until she retired.
Hard work was a joyful hobby for her. One of her favorite things so do was working outside in the yard or garden. She loved mowing the lawn, wanting it to look like a green carpet. All weeds had to be pulled out of her flower beds so she could admire the beautiful blooms.
When she could not work outside, she often visited friends or family, usually taking a treat for them. Until Covid 19 became an issue, she loved visiting the nursing homes, trying her best to lift someone’s spirits, patting them on the shoulder and telling them “I love you and Jesus loves you too.”
She never liked talking about her own needs and almost refused to ask for help for herself but was always concerned for other people. She lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed talking about her childhood, her husbands and raising her son. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be a graveside service at Mack McCall Cemetery on Monday, February 1st, at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Hank Moffitt, a good friend of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests your memorial be made to Calvary Mission Church, 100 Cemetery Road, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768, where she was a faithful member. She sang in the choir and enjoyed helping with the children during Bible School and took pride in cleaning the church or anything that needed to be done.
