Iris “Dot” Winters Jones was born on February 16, 1939 in Leicester, England and passed away January 24, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was raised by Olive Hammond. When she was seventeen, she met Gary S. Jones, a U.S. Airman stationed in Leicester and they fell in love. Iris moved to the United States and married Gary S. Jones on December 24,1958 in Brownsville, Kentucky.
Iris is preceded in death by her mother’s Florence Morgan Winters, Olive Hammond and father Theopolis Winters; in-laws Charles and Jean Jones; sisters Olive and Ruth; Sister-in-law Kaye Tuff.
Iris is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gary S. Jones; sister Vicky Musgrove; children Victoria Skaggs, Alan Jones (Jim), Sean Jones (Jackie); four grandchildren Olivia Uncleback (Adam), Christopher Bullock (Tara), Kayla Alvey (Trey), Miranda Jones (Joe); eight great grandchildren Alex U., Zach B., Brynlee B., Daxton A., Kaysen A., and a host of extended family and friends who cherished and adored her sweet spirit.
“She was a precious and dear wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, friend, and our Beloved Queen.”
Memorial service will be Saturday January 30, 2021 at 7:00pm Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday from 3:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
