Douglas Eugene "Doug" Harris, 82, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 in Redmond Hospital in Rome, GA. Doug was born April 9, 1938 in Taylorsville, Georgia, son of the late Winfield Percy "Dub" Jr. and Eula Beatrice "Bea" Taylor Harris.
He graduated High School in Bartow County; attended Mercer University, Georgia Southern, and West Georgia College. He was an Interim Pastor serving many churches in the area and retired from the School System after many years of service. Doug enjoyed coaching, riding horses, loved his family and Loved his Lord.
He is preceded in death by a son, Ronn Harris; mother & father; brother, Winfield Harris; granddaughter, Kiara Harris.
Doug is survived by his wife Gayle Harris; three sons, Jeffery & Traci Harris, Kevin & Desiree Harris, Craig & Wendy Harris; daughters-in-law, Lolli & Rhonda Harris; sisters, June Rikard (Mark), Gay Nobles (Gary); grandchildren, Jacy & Wilson, Nathan, Phoenix, Aubriann, Liliana, Keira, Lily, Jones, Dayln, Darien, Maddy, Clare, Lukas; great-grandchildren, Kohen, Nora and Grey; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Taylorsville Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Taylorsville Cemetery with Rev. Loy Ballard officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Ritchie Harris, Dustin Rikard, Jerron Rikard, Rogie Pritchard, Adam Elder and Ryan Malone.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Playground Equipment at Atco Baptist Church.
