Beverly Grace Owens Cooper
Beverly Cooper passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the age of 87. Beverly was born on November 19, 1933. She was the second of five children born to Leonard & Grace (Yates) Owens. She grew up and went to school in the Boise area. In 1951, she married James Cooper and they welcomed two children. Upon James' death in 1986, they had been married for 35 years.
Beverly was an accomplished seamstress, sewing everything from baby layettes to wedding dresses over the years. She also loved to knit, crochet, and paint until her hands no longer allowed it. Beverly dearly loved music, she learned to play the piano as a child and enjoyed singing and dancing. Her childhood home was always filled with the joyful sound of her singing and she sang and hummed all the days of her life. Her love of music brought her the chance to meet John Huckabee while attending a dance, and they have spent the last 33 years together. Beverly was known to enjoy placing a wager every now and then, either on the horses at Les Bois Racetrack back in the day, or at a slot machine while passing through a casino – and she was often one of the lucky ones. She loved to watch movies, the older the better, and a black and white movie was her choice more often than not. Travel was another favorite pastime for Beverly, her most recent road trip along Route 66 was an especially fond memory for her because she took that trip with both her children. Beverly also loved to host holidays for her family. That continued right up through this past holiday season, although on a smaller scale because of the current health crisis.
Beverly is survived by her partner, John Huckabee; her son, James (Lennie) Cooper; her daughter, Cerinna White, her brother, Dennis (Beverly) Owens of Arizona; her sister, Barbara (Dennis) Schrecongost; five beloved grandchildren and 8 adorable great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cooper; her parents, and two sisters, Betty Brooks and Winifred Owens.
The family would like to thank everyone that has supported them during this difficult time. Due to the pandemic and keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. The family asks that next time you have a chance, raise a glass for Beverly.
