Callie Mae Packett Hamilton, departed from Earth to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. She was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee in 1931, the youngest of six children. A 1950 graduate of Sweetwater High School, former Miss Monroe County, supporter of many local non-profit organizations and a member of the Methodist Faith. She was a former employee of the City of Knoxville in the Parks and Recreation Department serving from 1968 - 1994. She was a very giving and compassionate person working with the children and teens near the Marble City and West Haven neighborhoods for many years. She went far beyond her job in providing and organizing additional services and needs for children and adults in the areas where she worked. Callie loved her family, animals, working in her flowers, fashion, holiday events and enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. She never met a stranger with her wonderful smile and generous ways. Two of her favorite quotes were, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." and "It is more blessed to give than receive" Acts 20:35. Her caring ways will forever be remembered by the many lives she touched. Preceded in death by Mother and Step-father, Callie Packett Cathey and E. M. Cathey; Father, William Packett; Brothers, William, James (J.E.), Arrants, Lester and Fred Packett; Nephews, William "Billie" Packett and Tommy Packett. Survived by Husband, Clarence T. Hamilton, Jr.; Son and Daughter in Law, Steve and Carol Hamilton; Daughters and Son in laws, Debbie and Henry Guy Jackson, Cathy and Kent Maples; six Grandchildren, Shannon Hamilton, Sarah Hamilton, Autumn Jackson, Blake Jackson, Kendall Maples and Christopher Maples; Sister in law, Linda Burgess and her husband, James; Brother in law, Kenneth and his wife, Ann; special Niece, Mary Helen Greene of Sweetwater, along with many other nieces and nephews in Sweetwater and Knoxville; special friends, Kathi, Shelia, Tabetha, Brandi and Maxine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the P.A.W.S. (Placing Animals with Seniors) Program or the Senior Companion Program, both are with the Knox County Office on Aging Program, P O Box 51650, Knoxville, Tennessee 37950. Receiving of friends will be held at Bridges Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7 pm officiated by Reverend Darren Kitts and music by Madie Shenan.
