Thomas Edward Hunter, 89 of Arden, NC passed away peacefully on 1/22/21 at the Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Prior to Hospice he had been a resident at Pisgah Manor in Candler.

Thomas is preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Louise Baumgartner Hunter and both parents James Howard Hunter and Helen Crook Hunter of Fletcher, NC.

Thomas was an only child and grew up and attended school in Fletcher, NC. At the age of 19 he was drafted by the US Army and served on the frontlines of the Korean War. He was very proud to have served his country for 14 months in Korea. Thomas later attended trade school in Columbia, S.C. where he learned the skills to become a watchmaker. Thomas enjoyed repairing clocks and watches along with many other types of small appliances. He was employed by Servomation vending that operated out of the American Enka plant for many years. Later in his career he would become a delivery driver for Servomation/Canteen until he retired.

Thomas was a member of The Church of Latter Day Saints for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed serving his church throughout these years in various ways until he was unable to due to his decline in health.

He will be remembered by his family for his fun loving personality and his kindness toward all that he met.

Thomas is survived by his only child Anita Satterfield(Glenn) of Enka,NC and his granddaughters; Michelle Jarecki(Sean) of Southern Pines,NC; Madison Ruth Ing(Alex) of Arden,NC; Caitlin Satterfield of Candler and Lauren Satterfield of Enka. Along with his two great grandchildren Hunter and Hadley Hipps.

The funeral service will be held at Groce Funeral Home 72 Long Shoals Rd. Arden,NC on Tuesday January 26, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Due to Covid 19 Groce Chapel services are limited to 50 people. Burial will follow at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher.
