William Samuel “Shug” Dyer, age 61 of Morganfield, KY passed away 12:06AM Saturday, January 23, 2021 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Shug was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a retired coal miner for UMWA 1793. He enjoyed hunting, picking mushrooms, being outdoors, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Hatfield Dyer.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Sharon Dyer of Morganfield; his daughter, Brittany Dyer and Colby Howard of Morganfield; his 2 granddaughters, Ava and Brooklyn; his father, Charlie Dyer of Morganfield; his 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Sandy Dyer of Morganfield and Paul and Carol Dyer of Morganfield; niece and nephews, Stephanie Dyer, Adam Dyer, and Paden Dyer
The service will be 12 noon Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield. Fr. Freddie Byrd will officiate. The burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. The visitation will be 4-7PM Monday with prayers beginning at 6PM and 10AM until service time on Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, John Paul II Catholic School, or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
