Brenda Faye Walker Garrett, 74, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully January 20, 2021 at home. She was born March 3, 1946 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late Frank Bramlett Walker and Decimer Quinton Walker, and the tenth of eleven children.
Brenda was a strong, independent woman, accomplishing anything she set her mind to, including building a deck and remodeling her home by herself, "just to make sure it was done right." She also enjoyed working her job at Gaston Screen Printing as an embroiderer before retiring. Brenda loved her family deeply and enjoyed fishing and working in her yard. She would always mow her own lawn and spend hours raking sweet gum balls. Most of all, Brenda was an amazing mother to both her children and her fur babies. Being a mother was her calling and natural gift. Anyone who had the privilege of calling her "Mom," has been truly blessed. She will be missed more than mere words can express.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Crystal Harper (C.J.), son, Michael Garrett (Carrie); sisters, Betty Black and Jean Froneberger (Don); brother, Joel Walker; grandchildren, Karagen, Hunter, and Kaitlyn Garrett; her beloved fur baby Abbie and five fur grandbabies, Ellie, Axe, Mae, Penny and Payton.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her sister, Haviline Walker; and six brothers, Bill, Jimmy, Skeeter, Jack, Horace and Barron Walker, her best friend.
There will be a visitation at 11 am on Monday, January 25, 2021 at McLean Funeral Directors in Gastonia, NC. A funeral service will be at 1 pm at Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Pastor Jeffrey Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Brenda's family would like to thank Joy and the staff at Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County for helping make her final weeks as comfortable as possible. The staff provided remarkable care and our family is forever grateful.
