John Ronald McGuire, 82, of North Ridgeville, passed away Sunday March 2, 2014 at Life Care of Elyria following a short battle with cancer.
He was born February 9, 1932 in Scott Township, PA and he had been a resident of North Ridgeville for many years.
Mr. McGuire was a Korean War veteran and served in the US Marine Corp from 1949 to 1953.
He was a municipal bond broker and retired 22 years ago from Prescott-Ball & Turben in Cleveland. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and of VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville.
He loved to garden and to play cards. Mr. McGuire is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charline (nee LaHaie); two daughters, Colleen Nero (Denny) of St. Mary's, PA and Carol McGuire of North Ridgeville; two sons, David McGuire (Ann) of North Ridgeville and John M. McGuire (Pam) of Grafton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helene Haughney of CA, Claire McGuire of Warren, Suzanne Hayes of MI and Edie Hitchcock of CA; two brothers, Patrick McGuire of FL and Dr. Thaddeus McGuire of Warren; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Amelia (nee Loibl) McGuire, and by three brothers, Robert, Bernard and James McGuire.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Hospice of the Western Reserve or to the PSR Program at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is serving the family.
