Charles R. Garrett, 70, of Pekin, IL passed away at 12:25 PM Friday, January 22, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Charlie was born on July 3, 1950 in Pekin to Charles W. and Ruth (Meyer) Garrett. He married Debra Ford in 1994.
Surviving is: his wife, Debra of Pekin; two daughters, Kimberly (Chris) Williams of Pekin and Michelle Oakes of South Pekin; two grandchildren, Tristian Williams and Asher Oakes; five siblings, David (Ruth) Garrett of Port Orchard, WA, Margaret "Penny" Beisner of Dongola, IL, John (Nila) Garrett of Pekin, Thomas Garrett of Branson, MO and Lori (Kent) Vanderpool of Kirbyville, MO.
Charlie was veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He worked at Caterpillar retiring in 2010. He was a member of Empire Lodge #126 AF & AM. He volunteered at TAPS as Vet Tech Assistant and was a foster parent to many dogs. He enjoyed horses, Harleys, scuba diving, traveling, cruises, video games and music.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. A Masonic Service will be held at 12:45 pm prior to funeral service. Visitation will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Guidelines of social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed. Internment with military honors will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
