Elizabeth Knox Barry, longtime resident of Woodbury, passed away on January 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was born June 2 1930 in Litchfield the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Doherty) & Bartholomew Knox. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward M Barry.

Formerly of Waterbury, Elizabeth moved to Woodbury in 1969. She attended schools in Litchfield and was a graduate of St Mary’s School of Nursing, Class of 1951. Elizabeth worked at St Mary’s Hospital, St Peter and Paul school and was the school nurse at the Woodbury Middle School for 23 years until retiring. She was then a paraprofessional at Nonnewaug High School for 10 years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish Women’s Guild and the Church of the Nativity Good Shepherds.

Elizabeth took great pride in her large family always remembering all the birthdays and anniversaries. She especially enjoyed getting the eggs for the Easter egg hunt and a gift for all at Christmas.

She is survived by seven children, Peggy B Rehkamp and her husband George of Bethlehem, Patricia B. Thomas of Texas, Kevin G. Barry of Woodbury, Brian G. Barry and his wife Linda of Woodbury with whom she resided, Maureen B McCurdy and her husband Dave of Bethlehem, Betsy Daniels and her husband Dave of Woodbury and Katie B Rutkowski of Terryville.

Elizabeth is also survived by 22 grandchildren, Kristie Foster and her husband Mick, George J. Rehkamp and his wife Marisa Mastriano, Robert E. Thomas and his wife Kim, Karl B. Rehkamp and his Wife Chloe, Brian J. Thomas and his wife Shannon, Kevin G. Barry II, Jana Rehkamp-France and her husband Kennard, Shawn P. Barry and his partner Corinne Mc Bride, Stephanie Capps and her husband Trey, Michael C. Start and his partner Dana Wark, Melanie Shugrue and her husband Michael, Elizabeth deGraffenried and her husband Daniel, Rosemary McCurdy and her husband Jason, Jonathan B. Thomas and his wife Melisa, Brian E. Barry and partner Rachael O’Conner, Frank E. Start, Patrick E. McCurdy and his wife Rebecca, Rebecca Clampett and her husband John, Ryan A. Barry and his wife Susan, Aaron M. Barry and partner Missy Harrigan, Colleen Rousseau and her husband Peter and Jenel Barry, and her partner Anthony Russo, 50 Great Grandchildren and her faithful dog Lily.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Edward M. Barry, her brother Bartholomew Knox and her sisters Joan Barrow and Peggy Perusse and Great Grandson Quentin.

The family would like to thank her son Brian and daughter in law Linda Barry, with whom she resided, for their loving care.

Friends and family who are comfortable doing so may pay their respects to the family on Friday January 29, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury.
A funeral mass will be Saturday January 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Nativity, 48 East St., Bethlehem. Burial will follow at New North Cemetery in Woodbury.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Prince of Peace Parish, 146 Main St. S., Woodbury, CT. 06798 or a charity of your choice.
