Raymond Lyal Newman was born January 19, 1957 in Oklahoma City to Elmer Earl and Iva Lucille Battershell Newman. He passed away January 22, 2021 in Shawnee at the age of 64.

Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and many outdoor activities. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Proteus during the Vietnam Era. After completing a 6-year commitment of military service, he went to work for Wolverine Tube in Shawnee for a few years. After that, he went to work for Tinker AFB and the F.A.A. and worked on repairing radar sites.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home; son, Jesse Newman and wife Megan of Stroud, daughter Stephanie Newman of Wellston; 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Bobbie, and Ella Mae; brother Sydney Newman of Wellston; along with other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday at the Wellston Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. prior to the 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
