Obituary for James Lowell Brantley
James Lowell “Teeny”Brantley, Sr., 87, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021. James was born March 28, 1933 in Spring Hope, N.C. to the late William Troy Brantley and Ruth Brake Brantley. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margie Batchelor Brantley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry.
James is also survived by his son, James Lowell Brantley, Jr. and wife Cindy of Momeyer; daughter, Carol Latham of Emerald Isle; daughter, Jane Finch of Spring Hope; son William “Bill” Brantley and wife Deborah of Rocky Mount; son, Michael Brantley and wife Kristi of Spring Hope; and brother Billy Brantley of Spring Hope.
He is also survived by grandchildren Willis “Tripp” Finch, Christopher Finch, Nicholas Finch, John Latham, Melissa Latham, William Brantley, Jennifer Hammond, James Lowell “Trey” Brantley III, Jeffrey Brantley, Joseph Brantley, Laura Baker, Holly Brantley, Kent Brantley, and Lowell Brantley. James also had 22 great-grandchildren. He was looked after by several caregivers, especially Melinda Whitley.
James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Momeyer Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, in particular spending time on his Farmall tractor as well as woodworking in his shop.
Graveside services will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville on Monday, January 25 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Cornerstone Funeral Home of Nashville.
