Maj. William Herald Walker, 25, A A F, husband of Mrs. Jean S. Walker, 1489 Michigan Ave., and son of Prof., and Mrs. Dilworth Walker, 30 U St., died Wednesday of beri beri aboard an American hospital ship.
Pilot of a B-29 Superfortress, "Uncle Tom's Cabin", Maj. Walker survived the Tokyo battle and an attack by Japanese planes on Dec. 22, 1944, and was taken prisoner.
Born in Rexburg, Idaho, in November, 1919, Maj. Walker was a graduated from East High School and a senior at the university of Utah when he entered the army air forces in March, 1940. He was commissioned at Brooks Field, Texas, where he served as instructor.
Surviving are his widow, parents, four sisters and a brother.
