NORTH BRANFORD — Evelyn G. Matzkin, 93, of Evergreen Woods, 88 Notch Hill Road, passed away on Oct. 10, 2007.
She was born May 19, 1914, in Waterbury, Conn., daughter of the late Simon and Rose (Ackerman) Goldman. Evelyn was the beloved wife of nearly 71 years to Sydney Zelig Matzkin. She was very active in the Waterbury community and the Beth El Synagogue. She was a friend to all; all who knew her loved her.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Jaci Matzkin of North Chelmsford, Mass., Lewis and Kitty Matzkin of Hamden, Conn., and Ken and Teri Matzkin of Arlington, Va.; her grandchildren, Andrew Matzkin and his wife, Brenda, of Cheshire, Conn., Kim Henningsen and her husband, Karl, of Shelton, Conn.; and her great-grandchildren, Sydney Henningsen and Kaitlyn Matzkin; and her sister, Sylvia Sheinkopf, and her husband, Seymour, all of Burtonsville, Md.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service 12:30 p.m. today at Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. The service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will take place immediately following in Beth El Cemetery, Waterbury. A gathering will also be held 6:30 p.m. at Evergreen Woods, North Branford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Cemetery Association of Greater Waterbury, c/o Leo Goldberg, 25 Plymouth Ave., Waterbury 06710.
