Mr. Ronnie Silas Long, 76, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Ronnie was born in Marlow, Georgia to the late James Martin Long and Ida Mae Harrelson Long. He was a 1963 graduate of Groves High School, attended Pineora Baptist Church and retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 32 years of service. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, “Chicken Heaven”, and he dearly loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Jeffery S. Long (Heather), Ronnie C. Long (fiancé, Amy Perkins), and Jaime Long Acel (Korey); adopted son and best friend, Jeff Walker grandchildren, Whitney Long, Seth Long, Austin Derstine, Stacy Long, Mathew Long, Megan Perkins, Aubrey Acel, Adam Acel, Ashton Acel, Andrew Acel, and Alex Acel; great-grandson, Jacob Calkins; siblings, Montez Godbee Carrintgon, and James Ralph Long, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Pineora Baptist Church, 131 Elkins Street, Guyton, GA 31312

The visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 West Highway 80 in Pooler.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 West Highway 80 in Pooler. Burial will follow at Effingham Memorial Gardens.

All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place including the MANDATORY wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate). If you have been exposed to someone with COVID, or are experiencing any of the symptoms, please respect others by not coming.
