In her younger years, Helen worked at the Pantry Cafe and Benner Foods and was a bookkeeper for Southside Sanitation for many years.
She was a caring person and was always the caregiver for ill family members and lots of other friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah S. Dixon, of Ottumwa; sisters, Frances Goode, of Blakesburg and Edna Burton, of Ottumwa, brother, Jerry Penniston, of Waukee, and close friend, Sondra Jones of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by sister, Violet Ward, and brothers George, Paul, Thomas, Carl, Phillip, Elmer and Lloyd Lee.
At Helen's request, there will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be directed to the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
