Robert Lee Benton, 79, of Morganton died Thursday, January 21, 2021. Born in Burke County, NC on March 24, 1941, he was the son of the late James Benton and Annie Duckworth Benton. Robert worked most of his life at Drexel Furniture.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda Benton; children, Cotrinna Stamey, Brian Benton (Leslie), and Catherine Benton; grandchildren, Christopher Craig, Sebashton Benton, and Chanze Benton; great-grandchild, Sebastian Pearson; brothers, Carl and Paul Benton; and sisters, Margaret Kincaid, Eva Bell Crowder, Diane Williams, and Jane Aguinne.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim, Aaron, Ray, and John Benton.

Robert will be available for viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Ken Van Buskirk officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
